How long does it take to paint the Sistine Chapel?

The Sistine Chapel was frescoed by Michelangelo Buonarroti between 1508 and 1512. The work took about four years. Michelangelo created a series of frescoes covering the ceiling of the chapel, including the famous 'Last Judgement', which was completed later, between 1536 and 1541. Thus, in total, Michelangelo's decoration of the Sistine Chapel spanned a period of over thirty years, including the 'Last Judgement'.
